Walk into almost any original house between Young Circle and the Intracoastal and the kitchen is in the wrong place. Boom-era builders tucked it at the back corner, walled off from the dining room, sized for a cook nobody employs anymore. The 1950s and 1960s houses on Jefferson Street and Van Buren Street are only slightly kinder.
